A Extreme temperatures can shorten the life of a battery, and the liquid crystal panel may turn black when the temperature rises above 60 degrees Centigrade.

Q "Do magnets or electrical appliances affect Quartz watches?"

A Quartz watches have special devices to shield off magnetism. They are not affected by electrical appliances or computers. However, analogue quartz watches may stop temporarily if put in contact with magnetic necklaces or button type magnets.

Q "How long does a water sports watch or a diver's watch stay water resistant?"

A It is advisable if used extensively in water to have the seals checked and have it water pressure tested every 12 months, otherwise the seals may crack and allow water into the movement.

Q "Are quartz watches shock resistant?"

A Quartz watches are designed to be shock resistant and may be worn when playing sport. However, care should be taken to avoid dropping or striking on hard surfaces.

Q "When should a battery be replaced in a quartz watch"

A Replacement should be before the end of the stated life of the battery to avoid sudden stopping of the watch.

Q "Is it true using the light in a watch will affect the life of the battery?"

A Yes. A large current is used to turn on the light. Frequent use will shorten the life of the battery. A high drain of battery is required for watches having additional features such as alarm or illumination lamp.
